USF offers “Wizard of Oz” themed fun ahead of production

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The University of Saint Francis (USF) School of Creative Arts is offering a meet-and-greet ahead of the premiere of their production of “The Wizard of Oz.” USF will present the musical adventure from November 4 through November 13 at the USF Robert Goldstine Performing Arts Center at USF in downtown Fort Wayne.

Written in 1900, by L. Frank Baum, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” was the first American fantasy for children and one of the most beloved children’s books. The 1939 film starring Judy Garland was nominated for 6 Academy Awards.

The meet-and-greet and “Wizard of Oz Tour” will be held at DeBrand Fine Chocolates, located at 10105 Auburn Park Drive, on Sunday, October 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. DebBrand staff members will lead guests as DeBrand staff cooks in each kitchen to make something different to taste, including chocolate centers, ice cream and melted chocolate, and whole chocolate samples. Guest can take photos and autographs from “Oz” characters, and purchase tickets for the play, according to a press release from USF.

“The Wizard of Oz” will run at USF on the following dates:

  • Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 – 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 6 – 2 p.m.
  • Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12 – 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 13 – 2 p.m.
