FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Liverpool, England’s own official Beatles tribute band is stopping in Fort Wayne on its extended United States Tour. Four childhood friends, Steve Howard, David Howard, Brian Ambrose and Mark Bloor along with Tony Cook on keyboards have played sell out shows over the past few years.

The band performs in similar clothing and instruments as the original band. For 10 years, the Mersey Beatles were the resident tribute band of the Cavern Club, a nightclub in Liverpool. The club’s operator is John Lennon’s half-sister, Julia Baird.

Baird has praised the band as being the best tribute band to the Beatles. She is touring with the group to promote her novel, Imagine This: Growing Up with My Brother John Lennon. Baird will be selling and autographing books at the band’s show.

The Mersey Beatles are performing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21 in the USF Goldstine Center. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online or at Wooden Nickel locations. A VIP meet and greet with the band and Baird costs $99.
