Highlight Zone Preview – Wayne at New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – Sectional action gets underway this Friday night and 4A no. 4 New Haven will take center stage on the Highlight Zone as Northeast 8 champs will host Wayne at John Young Stadium.

New Haven is a perfect 8-0 on the season with their week three game against DeKalb cancelled for the program’s first undefeated regular season since 1987. The Bulldogs have only allowed 72 points on the season, as they yield just nine points a game.

Offensively, New Haven is putting up 51.4 points a night, third-most in the state and best in all of 4A. The Bulldogs are led by quarterback Keshawn Moore and running back Nishawn Jones. Moore just became the school’s all-time leading passer during last Friday’s win at Huntington North. Moore has 3,860 yards, passing Nate Schlund who had 3,662 during 2005-07. Jones has tallied 98 carries for 1,013 yards (a 10.3 average), and 18 rushing touchdowns. He’s also caught five touchdown passes and returned three punts for touchdowns.

Wayne comes in 2-7 on the season, but the Generals have made progress after going winless in 2015. Offensively, Wayne is putting up 19.9 points a game behind quarterback Diontre Collins-Jones and running back Devonair Kelsaw. Defensively, the Generals are giving up 32.9 points a night.

Kick is set for 7 p.m. Friday in New Haven. Jessica Starbard will be live at 6 p.m. that night with New Haven head coach Jim Rowland.
