Fort Wayne soccer blanked at home by Valpo

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne men’s soccer fell 2-0 at home on Tuesday evening to in-state rival Valparaiso in a non-conference match.

The Crusaders scored a goal in both halves. Their first tally came in the 22nd minute. Ramone Howell recorded the first goal off a corner from Nelson Landaverde. Steffen Pulinx scored for Valpo in the 67th minute, assisted by Jacob Keck, to make the final 2-0.

Valpo held a slim 19-18 edge in shots. The Mastodons had a flurry of shots in the final minutes, including an attempt by Cam Sinclair which hit the post.

Fort Wayne falls to 7-7-0. Valpo improves to 8-3-3. The ‘Dons return to action on Sunday (Oct. 23) in a Summit League match at Eastern Illinois. Kick is set for noon ET.
