FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A fire damaged the family room at a home on the 7000 block of Treverton Drive at approximately 2 p.m. Friday.
A report from the Fort Wayne Fire Department indicated that when firefighters arrived on the scene, they found smoke and fire coming from the home. Firefighters made an aggressive offensive attack into the home to extinguish the fire. The fire was located in the living room of the home, and extended to the outside. Firefighters arrived 3 minutes after the call was received and had the fire under control in 12 minutes.
According to a NewsChannel 15 photographer on the scene, no one was home during the fire. Officials on the scene were unable to immediately determine how the fire was started. After damaging the living room, the fire appeared to make its way into the attic.
The home also sustained moderate smoke and water damage throughout.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted on the scene by Neighborhood Code Enforcement, TRAA, Nipsco, and AEP, The American Red Cross were also called to assist the occupants.
