FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The power outage at Glenbrook Square Mall was resolved Saturday morning at midnight. According to a representative from Glenbrook, the mall returned to normal business hours Saturday, having opened at 10 a.m.
Glenbrook Square Mall had been closed until further notice due to unscheduled maintenance to power equipment. A power outage caused the closure at 2 p.m. Friday after a contractor hit a power line. According to a representative from Indiana Michigan Power, crews were correcting the issue until 12 a.m. Saturday.
Carla Jordan of Glenbrook Managing Group told NewsChannel 15 that the mall had problems with some electrical equipment.
Tracy Warner, Principal Communications Consultant of Indiana Michigan Power told NewsChannel 15 that a contractor hit a power line at about 10:15 a.m., and the power was cut around 3 p.m.
Several people did not know it had been closed and had arrived at the mall on Friday night. However, they were met with an empty parking lot and a sign on the door indicating the mall was closed.
A similar issue occurred in November of 2015.
