MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) A Bluffton woman was killed mid-morning Thursday when the SUV she was driving ran a stop sign and was struck by a passing semi in Mercer County, Ohio.
Police and medics were called just before 10 a.m. Thursday to the intersection of Frahm Pike and State Route 118, just northwest of Celina, on a report of a crash there.
Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said a 2005 GMC Envoy SUV driven westbound on Frahm Pike by Linda D. Aschliman of Bluffton failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with State Route 118. In the intersection, the SUV struck a northbound 2012 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by Jeremy W. Bragg of Ohio City, Ohio.
Aschliman was ejected from her SUV. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
A passenger in Aschliman’s vehicle, Katie Wickey of Geneva, Indiana, was also ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Coldwater Hospital. Another passenger, Kathern Christner, was also taken to the hospital.
Bragg refused treatment at the scene.
The intersection was closed while crews worked the crash. Police said it was reopened around 3:30 p.m.
