Alzheimer’s walk aims to raise disease awareness

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter hosted a Walk to End Alzheimer’s Saturday at Parkview Field to raise awareness about people suffering with the disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. More than 5 million currently live with Alzheimer’s, including 110,000 Indiana residents.

“Alzheimer’s disease is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed,” Development Specialist of Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana said in a press release. “Now is the time for Fort Wayne to unite in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and take action by participating.
