NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) -A much anticipated game in the Northeast 8 turned into a one-sided affair as 4A no. 5 New Haven dominated 4A no. 10 East Noble 55-21 at John Young Stadium. At 5-0 in NE8 play the Bulldogs control their own destiny when it comes to the conference title, as they can clinch the crown with a win next Friday Huntington North. NiShawn Jones stole the show for the Bulldogs, rushing 21 times for 215 yards and five scores. East Noble quarterback Andrew McCormick came into the game with 24 touchdown passes and one interception, but the Bulldogs picked him off three times – including pick sixes from Roy Ayers and Diamond Towns.
At Max Gandy Field Ja’Shawn Turner-Parks led the Leo offense with 157 yards rushing and two touchdowns as the Lions bested Columbia City 33-7. Trenton Bonner added 113 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Columbia City quarterback Max Bedwell scored on a two-yard keeper in the fourth quarter for the Eagles’ lone tally of the night.
Up in Waterloo DeKalb extended its winning streak to three games as the Barons defeated Bellmont 20-6. Hunter Minich carried 23 times for 89 yards and score while Jon Bell added an interception return for a touchdown to lead the Barons. Caleb Hankenson rushed 14 times for 67 yards while Tony Busse rushed 14 times for 64 yards and a touchdown for Bellmont.
At Kriegbaum Field Huntington North’s Patrick Miller returned an interception in the second quarter for the game’s first touchdown as the Vikings went on to defeat Norwell 27-0.
