Homestead blanks Concordia to win boys soccer sectional championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead’s first-half goal from Rocco Zirille would prove to be all the offense the Spartans would need as Homestead shut out Concordia 3-0 to win the 2A sectional title Thursday night at Pat Teagarden Field.

Zirille’s goal in the 12th minute staked the Spartans to a 1-0 lead they would never relinquish. Zirillie and Noah Jepson would each tally a goal in the second half to set the final.

Justin Harris recorded the shutout in goal for Homestead.

It marks Homestead’s third consecutive sectional title and the 12th overall for the program.

Homestead will now face the winner of the DeKalb sectional at the Carroll regional next Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
