FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Shoppers at area Kroger grocery stores shopped to fight cancer on Wednesday.
The 38th annual Fight Cancer Day was held Wednesday at Kroger’s 15 stores across the region. Three percent of the store’s sales on Wednesday will be donated to the American Cancer Society, Cancer Services and Francine’s Friends.
Fight Cancer Day was started by Scott’s Foods in 1979 and the fund-raising event continued following the purchase of Scott’s from SuperValu by Kroger in 2007. All told, in 37 years, Kroger has raised $4,816,773 to fight cancer.
