Allen Co. added to ISP investigation involving voter registration fraud

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An investigation that began in August for voter registration fraud will now include additional counties, according to WANE-TV sister station WISH-TV in Indianapolis.

The counties involved in the original investigation included, Hendricks and Marion counties. Now, police will include Allen, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Lake and Madison.

State police were serving search warrants to the business offices of the Indiana Voter Registration Project at 2425 North Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis. The search warrants were served on Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the investigation will take several weeks or months. Other details about the investigation have not been released; however, investigators are trying to determine if false names and information is being used to register voters.

“False names are being put with real addresses, real names are being put with wrong address,” said Indiana State Police Captain Dave Bursten.

24-Hour News 8 spoke to the group behind Indiana Voter Registration Project, they believe the raid is politically motivated, and a spokesperson warns 45,000 Hoosiers could be denied their Constitutional Right to Vote.
