Komets open camp for 2016-17 season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Coming off a trip to the ECHL’s Western Conference finals the Fort Wayne Komets are hoping to take it a step further in the 2016-17 season.

The Komets opened training camp on Monday with 14 returnees off last year’s squad on the roster, including forwards Mike Embach, Shawn Szydlowski, Jamie Schaafsma and goaltender Pat Nagle.

Nine players on the Fort Wayne roster are currently in AHL camps.

Coach Gary Graham enters his fourth year leading the franchise, as the Komets play their exhibition opener this Friday at War Memorial Coliseum against the Indy Fuel at 8 p.m. Tune into the Highlight Zone that night for coverage of the game.
