Amber Alert canceled for Hammond mother and child

HAMMOND, Ind. (WANE) – A statewide Amber Alert involving the apparent abduction of a child and mother who were believed to be in extreme danger has been canceled. According to the Hammond Police Department, the mother and child were found safely at a residence in Calumet City, Illinois.

Chicago TV station WMAQ reported the mother called police after the Amber Alert was issued.

Hammond police believe Yolanda Walker and her son Raphael Bevineau has been taken by Raphael’s non-custodial father, Ralph Bevineau, a black man. Yolanda and Raphael had last been seen at 7 p.m. on Sunday in Hammond. Ralph Bevineau was previously believed to be driving a gold Chevy Trailblazer or similar type of SUV.

Ralph Bevineau has not been located at this time.
