NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – In Northeast 8 play 4A no. 6 New Haven scored early and often, beating Bellmont 55-10 and earning coach Jim Rowland his 100th win with the Bulldogs. Nishawn Jones rushed 17 times for 120 yards and two touchdown to lead New Haven while Whitney Harris and Kentrel Thomas each had a receiving touchdown. Caleb Hankenson rushed nine times for 83 yards and Bellmont’s only touchdown. New Haven improves to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in NE8 play and will host East Noble next Friday in a game that will likely determine the conference title.
4A no. 12 East Noble improved to 4-0 in conference play with a 48-0 win over Columbia City in Kendallville. Andrew McCormick was 17-of-23 passing for 235 yards and five touchdowns while adding 83 yards rushing. Jon-Matthew Spaw and Dane Hile each had touchdown runs for the Knights. Columbia City was held to 136 yards of total offense.
At Lions Field it was Ja’Shawn Turner-Parks rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns leading the Lions over Huntington North 42-13. Trenton Bonner added 98 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Leo. Max Minich added a pick six for the Lions. Mason Landrum rushed 15 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Vikings.
Down in Ossian DeKalb outgained Norwell 415 yards to 44 as the Barons bested the Knights 38-0. Peyton Stout was 14-of-17 passing for 256 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Barons. Hunter Minich added 16 carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns while Collin Goebel caught five passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
