Mastodons hold first practice of 2016-17 season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne men’s basketball team opened the 2016-17 season with the first practice of the year on Friday (Sept. 30) afternoon.

The Mastodons are coming off a 24-10 season last year which saw the ‘Dons earn a regular season league title and a berth in the National Invitation Tournament.

Jon Konchar was an All-Summit League First Team selection last year after averaging 13.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as a redshirt freshman. Purdue transfer Bryson Scott will see the court in 2016-17 after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. The ‘Dons return seniors Mo Evans, DeAngelo Stewart, Trevor Osborn and Brent Calhoun.

Fort Wayne opens the 2016-17 season with an exhibition against Capital on Nov. 3 at the Gates Sports Center. The first regular season contest will be on Nov. 11 at Arkansas.
