Fort4Fitness: What you need to know

NewsChannel 15 will provide live coverage of the event on First News from 7-9 and throughout the morning

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Thousands of people will participate in Saturday’s Fort4Fitness Fall Festival, and even if you aren’t taking part in the various events there are still some things you need to know. Much of Saturday’s activities will take place in the area around Parkview Field in downtown Fort Wayne.

The ninth annual event includes a first ever marathon along with a half marathon, 10K (the 2016 RRCA National Championship 10K) and 4 Mile Run/Walk.  The course covers an sizable area south of downtown and there’s even a way for family and friends of runners to track where they are on the course.

Nearly 2,000 people have signed up to take part in the 10K, another 1,825 will run in the half marathon, 447 in the marathon and more than 3,200 in the 4 mile run/walk. So as you can imagine, with that number of people taking part, there will be road closures and traffic disruptions for much of the morning and into the afternoon with the first race starting at 7:00 a.m. and participants making their way along the course and back to Parkview Field until around 1:00 p.m.
