Horse therapy center helps children with challenges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Oak Hill Farm, an equestrian therapy center located in Roanoke that specializes in treating children with challenges through horse therapy, is hosting a fundraising event on Sunday, October 2 to celebrate the accomplishments of their students and raise money for their participation in the therapy program.

The “Day at the Farm” event will begin with a cross country 5K run and a 1-mile family run/walk and kids activities, followed by a children’s horse show, raffle, silent auction, hay ride, and band performance. Registration for the 5K run and 1-mile family run/walk begins at 12 p.m.

Carrie Norton’s 5-year-old daughter Greta is a student at the center who has benefited from the services the Oak Hill Farm offers.

“We wanted to seek something out that was different than her regular speech therapy and occupational therapy,” Norton said. “She has improved leaps and bounds with her coordination, her balance, her motor planning, and her overall confidence and poise around other people.”
