FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The health-casual restaurant Freshii, which caters to all different dietary choices, has opened in Fort Wayne.

By the end of 2016, Freshii will operate over 300 locations across 85 cities in 20 countries. The restaurant has over 70 ingredients and homemade salad dressings made fresh daily for customers to choose from.

The Fort Wayne based franchise opened in February but only recently held their “grand opening party” on Thursday. The franchise is locally owned and operated by Christina Hay and her two sons Kelly and Kevin. Hay said she wanted to get involved in the downtown development of Fort Wayne when she decided to open the franchise.

“We felt there was a need for a healthy alternative in downtown Fort Wayne that catered to vegans, vegetarians, gluten intolerances and meat eaters as well,” Hay said. “We’ve always been huge supporters of the downtown development and wanted to be a part of that movement.”

Freshii specifically targets a younger crowd and aims to bring the latest health trends to the masses, including the use of eco-friendly appliances and offering biodegradable containers and dining utensils.

“People care more about what they are putting in their bodies,” Hay said. “Freshii helps you eat healthy without sacrificing flavor.”

The Fort Wayne location of Freshii is located at 301 W Jefferson Blvd. and is open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
