Family-friendly, fun event helps you prepare for emergencies

This weekend, a local event will help you and your family develop a preparedness plan for emergency situations. This is the 8th year for the Annual Safety Fair, once again located at Jefferson Pointe. Some of the different vendors who will be at the event include the Office of Homeland Security (helping you make a home-readiness package), Walgreens (giving free flu shots), the Fort Wayne Fire Department (showing you their trucks), and Lifeflight (who will give you a look at their helicopter). The bomb-detecting robot will also be there again, along with some new events, like Coffee with a Cop. NewsChannel 15 Chief Meteorologist Nicholas Ferreri will be with the Fury Tracker – which has a new look – to talk about weather preparedness and what the Live Doppler 15 Fury Storm Team does to help keep you safe. There will also be several prizes and giveaways, along with free Chic-Fil-A sandwiches for the first 200 people who attend.

The Safety Fair will be held in the parking lot between Smokey Bones and Carmike Cinemas at Jefferson Pointe on Saturday, September 24th from 10a-1p. This event is free to attend!
