Casa Restaurants latest to raise large sum for Holton Ave. family

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Donations continue to roll in for the family killed on Holton Avenue, and for the surviving family members. NewsChannel 15 previously told you about the $25,000 donation by local developer Bill Bean. Now, Casa Restaurants is the next to donate a large sum.

Coworkers of Contrall Harris at Casa Restaurants, the father of one of the victims, raised more than $4,000. Then, the corporate office matched it. In all, $8,400 was raised.

Both of these donations are among many coming in.

“I think we have a lot of people saying ‘we’re in it for the long haul,'” Vincent Village Executive Director Denise Andorfer said.

Some candles outside 3006 Holton Ave. have burned out since they were placed there nearly two weeks ago. However, a few flames remain.

For those who want to support the family of Consuela Arrington, Traeven Harris, Dajahiona Arrington, her unborn baby and Trinity Hariston no flames have burned out.

“I think the community just kind of looks at [the recent violence in Fort Wayne] like a criminal element, gang members shooting each other over drugs and guns, it doesn’t really affect any innocent people,” Andorfer said. “But there is this undercurrent of violence that of course affected this family.”

Trinity survived. More than making sure all the funerals are paid for, people are looking to help take care of Trinity long term.

“You can’t fathom that someone can get to the point of anger and rage to do something like this,” Andorfer said.
