Two high schools with different band recruitment seasons

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Hundreds of students participate in marching band at various schools across the area, but not all are recruited during the same season. Bishop Dwenger and Norwell High Schools are in the middle of competition season.

Dwenger’s band director Don Cochran used summer recruitment to bring more talent into the program because the band did not march last year. This is Cochran’s first year at the school. Norwell’s band director Cory Kelley is currently in the fall recruitment season. Kelley said Fall is the prime recruiting season but they’re always looking for talent.

Both band directors joined First News Sunday to talk about their different styles and some of their upcoming performances. To learn more click on the video above.
