Pits in the Park focuses on responsible pet ownership


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Pit Bull Coalition held its 5th Annual “Pits in the Park” event at Freimann Square Saturday.

The event is aimed at educating pet owners of all breeds and species about their responsibilities. Those in attendance could also enjoy live music and entertainment, vendors, food, and contests.

Pet adoption was also available.

Money raised from the event goes to the FWPBC’s mission to educate the public in northeast Indiana through education, public awareness, animal rescue and providing resources.

Contests included best costume, best adoption story, and best trick. Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Owners could use get their pets microchipped for $10.

The event also featured the popular Pet Parade around Freimann Square.
