Fort Wayne, Ind (WANE) – The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. According to 2014 data from the CDC, suicide is the eleventh leading cause of death overall in Indiana. Breaking it down by age it’s the second leading cause of death for ages 10 to 34, the fourth leading cause of death for ages 35 to 54, the eighth leading cause of death for ages 55 to 64 and the eighteenth leading cause of death for ages 65 and older.
The Indiana Chapter will hold the Out of the Darkness Walk on Sunday, October 2, at Headwaters Park East. Check-in is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The walk will begin at 2:00 p.m. Online registration is available now through noon on September 30. Organizers hope to raise $50,000.
