Officials investigating house fire as possible arson

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Firefighters are working a house fire Tuesday morning on the city’s northside. The fire started at about 7 a.m. in a house in the 4505 Brimstone Road in Oak Creek Estates, which is between Diebold Road and North Clinton Street.

The fire appears to have started in a central bedroom, but it’s unclear if it began on top of the floor or underneath, according to St. Joseph Fire Chief David Ringer. Ringer said the fire does look suspicious because of where the fire originated. An arson investigator is on scene.

A firefighter on the scene told NewsChannel 15 the house appeared to be vacant. No gas or electricity is powered to the home.

Fire crews from Huntertown, Northeast, Perry, St. Joseph and Washington townships are working the fire. Ringer praised the ability of all the departments to work quickly and efficiently save the building.
