FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Construction is cruising at Cityscape Flats in downtown Fort Wayne and people are already signing leases.
“It’s gone very well so far,” Scott Sorensen, a partner at Domo Development, said. “WE haven’t had any major setbacks and even with all the rain, we’ve stayed on schedule.”
Sorensen said 122 people have already expressed interest in the 163 available apartments. Eight people have already signed leases.
“We dont’ have any units to show furnished so they are placing deposits and filling out applications and signing leases without having seen the unit they’ll live in,” he said. “It just shows there is definitely a market for downtown living in Fort Wayne.”
Rents will range from $900 to $1,800 a month. The first people could start moving in in February.
“What we’ll be seeking to do is move people into half of it while we’re still finishing the other side,” Sorensen said.
A few blocks away construction on the Skyline Tower apartments was expected to start in late summer or early fall. Monday developer Great Lakes Capital said dirt should start moving in a few weeks. It sent the following update statement:
Final documentation related to this complex public/private partnership is nearing completion. Full construction start is expected to begin within several weeks with the first phase of apartments and ground level restaurant space available by early 2018. This catalytic project will offer 124 apartments of unique downtown living as originally planned”
Cityscape Flats should be completely finished by next May or June. People interested in the complex can click here or call (260) 415-8111.
