ECHL announces 2016-17 preseason schedule


PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Monday announced its preseason schedule of 23 games beginning Oct. 6 and continuing through Oct. 13.

The preseason opens on Thursday, Oct. 6 with a pair of games – Atlanta hosting Norfolk at The Cooler in Alpharetta, Ga. and Cincinnati visiting Wheeling.

The Premier ‘AA’ Hockey League will open its 29th season with eight games on Friday, Oct. 14. Opening weekend continues with 12 games on Saturday, Oct. 15 and one games on Sunday, Oct. 16.

The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,385 fans per game in 2015-16, the 12th consecutive season and the 24th time in the last 26 years that the ECHL has averaged over 4,000 fans.
