KIMMELL, Ind. (WANE) A three-vehicle crash closed U.S. 33 to traffic in northwest Noble County for a little over an hour Wednesday. It reopened just before 6 p.m.
Police and medics were called around 4:40 p.m. on a report of a multi-vehicle crash along U.S. 33 at the intersection with Noe Street in Kimmell. Police said three vehicles were involved and injuries were reported.
A preliminary investigation showed Brian Erb, 61, of Kimmell, was headed north on U.S. 33 and was slowing to turn left onto Noe Street. He was rear-ended by a car driven by Joshua Hauch, 22, of Buchanan, Michigan. The crash forced Erb’s car to cross the center line and hit a southbound SUV driven by Marie Worrick, 33, of Columbia City.
Medics took Erb to a hospital with a hip injury. Hauch was taken to a hospital with an injury to his right wrist. Worrick went to a hospital for pain and her passenger, Michelle Close, 27, of Fort Wayne, suffered a chest injury. All four were wearing seatbelts at the time. A nine-month-old in the SUV was not hurt.
