Active shooter report locks down Defiance College

DEFIANCE, Ohio (WANE) Defiance College was locked down Monday on a report of an active shooter near the campus.

According to Defiance Police, two shots were reportedly fired near two addresses along North Clinton Street in Defiance around 10 a.m. Officers responded to the area and found two 9-millimeter gun shell casings, according to a report.

Witnesses told police a white man in a white jersey was seen running from the area, the report said. He was not caught and remains at large, police said.

The college was placed on a lock down around 11 a.m. Kathy Punches, Defiance College Director of Public Relations and Marketing, said they locked the buildings down due to an active shooter near the campus.

The lockdown lasted about an hour, Punches said.
