Former IPFW standout Evan Miller heading to TinCaps

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Just a few months ago Evan Miller was pitching for the IPFW Mastodons – and soon he’ll be back in the Summit City.

Miller, who was drafted in the 22nd round by the Padres following his sophomore season at IPFW, will be added to the TinCaps roster by the end of the week.

Since signing with the Padres organization Miller’s been pitching for the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League in short-season ball.

Pitching as a reliever, Miller has played in 15 games and thrown 26 innings for Tri-City. He boasts a 2.42 ERA and 25 strikeouts.

Miller will be the fourth player with local ties to suit up for the TinCaps. Former Leo/Indiana Tech pitcher Brandon Alger, Bryant native Matt Wisler, and Norwell grad Josh VanMeter have all played for the franchise.
