Possible tornado reported in northeast Allen Co.

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A possible tornado was reported in northeast Allen County Saturday evening, near Schwartz Road and Notestine Road.

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning at 5:45 p.m. and a trained spotted indicated a possible tornado near Notestine and Schwartz Roads at 5:50 p.m.

The National Weather Service has not confirmed a funnel cloud touched down.

Allen County Sheriff’s Department emergency dispatchers said they had not received any major reports of damage as of 6:40 p.m. A sheriff’s deputy in the area also talked to a NewsChannel 15 photographer and said she had not seen any major damage.

A NewsChannel 15 crew said they’ve seen tree limbs down, but also have not spotted any major damage. On Notestine east of Schwartz they spotted a wooden swing set that was turned upside down along with downed limbs and blown over yard ornaments.

A NewsChannel 15 viewer said some shingles were damaged on their roof at their home on Eby Road. A viewer also reported corn stalks blown over on Flutter Road between Wheelock and Maplecrest Roads.

NewsChannel 15 Meteorologist Hannah Strong found blown over corn stalks and downed trees along Flutter Road between Maplecrest and Wheelock Road.

The National Weather service said Saturday evening it will send a damage survey team to the area Sunday morning.
