FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Marion High School graduate Vijay Blackmon will made it official on Wednesday as he signed with the Saint Francis basketball program.
Blackmon had verbally committed to play for USF and coach Chad LaCross last month.
Earlier this summer Blackmon indicated he would head to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for a postgraduate season.
A six-foot-three guard, Blackmon played his first season of high school basketball at Bishop Luers H.S. before transferring to Marion to play for his father.
During his recently completed senior year at Marion H.S. Blackmon averaged 17.4 points and 2.9 assists a game, leading his team to a 23-7 record and the 3A state title. He scored 12 points in the Giants’ 73-68 win over Evansville Bosse H.S. His father, James Blackmon, was MHS head coach and served as an assistant at USF under head coach Jeff Rekeweg for three seasons (2000-01 to 2002-03) before taking over as head coach at Bishop Luers H.S.
