Police seize marijuana grow operation

VAN WERT, Ohio (WANE) Police in Van Wert County, Ohio have seized a large marijuana grow operation and related equipment out of a Willshire home.

Van Wert County Sheriff deputies, following a tip, on Wednesday raided a home along Riley Street in Willshire. There, police found nine marijuana plants. The plants had a potential street value of $9,000, the sheriff’s department said.

Police also seized lights and equipment, a batch of apparent marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a cell phone in the raid.

A 42-year-old man was at the home at the time police served the search warrant but he was released. Sheriff Tom Riggenbach said he expects the case will be presented to a Van Wert County Grand Jury by the Van Wert County Prosecutor’s Office.

Riggenbach also said a nuisance abatement letter will be sent to the property owner that will order that person to take action to stop future illegal activity.
