DANVILLE, Ind. (AP) — The National Weather Service says seven tornadoes struck mostly central Indiana this week.
It says the strongest of the twisters Monday was rated EF2, with winds of 111-135 mph, and struck 2½ miles southeast of Whitestown in Boone County.
Three tornadoes were rated EF-1 with winds of 86-110 mph. Two struck in Hendricks County and a third was near Sheridan in Hamilton County.
The weather service says three EF-0 tornadoes, with winds of 65-85 mph, struck Hendricks County, 4 miles west of Battleground in Tippecanoe County and 6 miles northeast of Greentown in Howard County.
Weather service meteorologist Tara Dudzik has described some of the tornados as “one long track, one that was kind of surviving through several counties that was touching down and going back up.”
