SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WANE) – Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has decided to go with a two-headed beast at the quarterback position to start the season. At Notre Dame’s media day on Wednesday Kelly told reporters he will play both quarterbacks at Texas on September 4th.
“They both have been outstanding,” Kelly explained. “They both make plays. They continue to be playmakers. We are best prepared to beat Texas by playing both DeShone and Malik.”
Zaire went into the 2015 season as the starting QB throwing for three touchdowns in the season opener against Texas. He broke his right ankle in Week 2 of the season leading the way for Kizer to take over. Kizer went 8-3 as the starter leading Notre Dame to the Fiesta Bowl. He threw for 2,884 yards and 21 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore.
