NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – With six straight winning seasons the New Haven football program is looking for more of the same this fall at John Young Stadium.
Coming off a 7-4 season in 2015, the Bulldogs return some major contributors on offense. Senior quarterback KeShawn Moore is back for his third season as the starter after throwing for 1,785 yards and 17 touchdowns last fall. Also back is running back Nishawn Jones, who has 2,794 career rushing yards and 35 TDs heading into his senior season. The Bulldogs also return all five starting offensive lineman, including center Alec Gusching. However, they will have to replace some graduated receivers in Tyon Woods (58 catches, 982 yards, 10 TDs – signed with Davenport University) and Tremon Jackson (signed with the University of Indianapolis as a safety).
Defensively, the Bulldogs lost some key playmakers to graduation in Jackson, Mikael Griggs, and Desmond Coleman among others. Gusching and Diamond Towns will be counted on the anchor the line as New Haven’s younger players get their feet wet on Friday nights.
Jim Rowland enters his 16th year leading the program with a 94-77 overall mark.
The Bulldogs open the 2016 slate at Heritage on August 19.
