STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Three people were hospitalized late Saturday afternoon near Lake George in Steuben County after the golf cart they were riding in was struck by a car on a county road.
A Mercury Sable driven by Allissa Case, 18, of Angola was traveling behind the golf cart on Lane 201 Lake George at around 5:20 p.m. according to a news release from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department. Case began to pass the golf cart on the left, when the driver of the golf cart, Linda McKinney, 69, of Ft. Wayne attempted to make a left turn onto Lane 201 A Lake George. The two vehicles then collided.
All three occupants of the golf cart were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries was not listed in the news release. It also did not indicate if Case suffered any injuries.
Police believe the speed of the Mercury played a factor in the crash. The golf cart also did not have turn signals.
It is illegal for golf carts to be operated on county roads in Steuben County.
