FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A local woman received a call from someone impersonating a police officer, claiming she had missed jury duty and was going to be arrested.
According to a news release from the Better Business Bureau, the 260-phone number of the caller belongs to a local law firm, but they were not making the calls. The caller impersonator indicated that in order for the resident to avoid arrest, she would have to pay $1500. Payment could only be made by Green Dot Money Park card.
The caller told the resident where to go to buy a Green Dot Money Pak card. He walked her through the process of how to send him money via this method and stayed on the phone with her through this process.
The resident was then told meet him at the local address for the Allen County Court House.
