Police: Alcohol a factor in crash; sends woman to hospital

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) An Indianapolis woman struck a tree in what police were calling an alcohol-related incident early Monday evening.

According to a news release from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to County Road 200 W north of Buck Lake Road at 4:10 p.m. on report of a vehicle crash. Deputies found a yellow 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt off the roadway to the east.

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Amanda Bundy of Indianapolis. Bundy drove off the roadway on the west side before crossing back over the road and striking a tree on the east side. Bundy was initially pinned in the vehicle.

An investigation revealed Bundy was not wearing a seatbelt and according to police, alcohol was involved. Airbags deployed in the vehicle.

Bundy was transported by Steuben County EMS to Parkview Regional Hospital. Angola Fire and Angola Police assisted at the scene.
