FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Bishop Luers graduate and former Ohio State standout Deshaun Thomas may be heading overseas again to continue his professional basketball career.
First reported by international basketball website Sportando, Thomas is negotiating a deal to play for Anadolu Efes Istanbul of the Euroleague in Turkey next season.
Thomas told WANE-TV on Wednesday that he’s looking to sign a one-year deal with an option for a second season. He also says the contract will have NBA outs that allow him to return to the states if an NBA team offers an opportunity.
Thomas just finished playing for the Charlotte Hornets in NBA’s Orlando Summer League. He’s currently working out back in Columbus where he starred for the Buckeyes.
Last season Thomas played for the San Antonio Spurs NBADL team, averaging 14.7 points a game for the Austin Spurs.
A 2013 second-round NBA draft pick by the Spurs, Thomas played his first two years as a pro overseas, suiting up in France and Spain.
