Crews respond to fire in northern Allen County

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A house was damaged from a fire in the northern part of Allen County Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Huntertown Fire Department responded around 2:40 p.m. to 10116 West Palo Verde Dr. When crews arrived they found a single story house in flames.

Fort Wayne dispatch said no one was inside the house when the fire started.

An Indiana State Police trooper told NewsChannel 15 that he was driving by the home when he saw the smoke and called the fire in.

People in the area said the smoke was so thick that it was difficult to breathe.

It’s not yet clear what could have caused the fire. An arson specialist was dispatched to the scene to investigate the fire.
