Baer Field postpones Wednesday’s “Hoosier 100” Race For The Gold Cup

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – One of the marquee events on the 2016 Baer Field Motorsports Calendar is going to have to wait for just a few weeks.  With various weather sources predicting a better than 60% chance of rain on Wednesday night, both International Championship Auto Racing (ICAR) and Baer Field Motorsports Park have officially announced the postponement of Wednesday’s Panacea Powder & Ceramic Coating / Fort Wayne Trucking “Hoosier 100” Race For The Gold Cup.

“With the good amount of teams competing in this race traveling from significant distances, we did not want to take the chance of teams getting all the way here just for it to rain out,” Dave Muzzillo stated.

The race will now be ran on Saturday, August 20th, as part of “Fort Wayne Mad Ants Night at the Races” which will not only feature the ICAR Outlaw Super Late Models, but also the stars and cars of the Fort Wayne Transmission “Saturday Night Racing Series” of Late Model Sportsman, Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Stock Compacts.

In conjunction with that event, the Go-Karts “Kid Kart Showcase” event that was also slated for Wednesday night will also run on Saturday, August 20th to allow fans to get a glimpse of the future stars of motorsports on display as part of the show.

In the meantime, racing for this Saturday, July 16th is on schedule as the Auto Value Super Sprints will come into town for the “Summit City Sprint Car Showcase” as well as the rescheduled Late Model Sportsman 30-lap “Half Mile Challenge” plus Saturday Night Racing Series action with Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Stock Compacts.

On Saturday, competitor gates will open at 1 p.m. as cars will begin arriving and going through the inspection process, before getting on track for practice at 2:30 p.m. Spectator gates and Time Trials will begin at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremonies and preliminary racing action set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission for the event is just $18 for adults, $10 for kids ages 8-12, and ages 7 and under are free of charge.
