DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A driver faces charges after a crash where a passenger was killed, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the Detective Ben Rice, around 3 a.m. deputies responded in the 6400 block of State Road 1, just north of Spencerville.
Investigators determined a truck was headed north at a high rate of speed when it went off the west side of the road and struck a guardrail head on and then continued north. The truck rolled before it came to a rest.
A passenger was ejected from the truck. He was identified as Dustin Reith, 28, from Warren.
Police said the driver, Benjamin Baker, 31, of Spencerville, fled the scene and was later located at his home. Baker has been charged with leaving the scene of a vehicle accident resulting in death and criminal recklessness. Baker suffered minor injuries from the crash.
