FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Bishop Luers graduate Kevin Kiermaier is eyeing a return to the Tampa Bay Rays lineup for the first series after the All-Star break according to Rays beat writer Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

After the All-Star break the Rays host the Orioles for a three-game series starting on Friday, July 15.

Kiermaier broke two bones in his left hand while attempting a diving catch against the Detroit Tigers on May 21.

The American League Gold Glove winner in center field for 2015, Kiermaier will reportedly take batting practice later this week for the first time since being injured. He has already taken dry swings during a workout.

The former Luers standout is hitting .236 with five home runs and six stolen bases in 2016.
