Fight leads to shooting, ends with standoff

Police responded to a fight at the bar which led to a standoff.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) One person is in serious condition after a fight at a Fort Wayne bar.

Police were called to Hitch In Post at the intersection High Street and St. Marys Avenue around 12:45 Saturday morning.

The owner of Hitch In Post told NewsChannel 15 the victim had already left the bar before the fight started.

Police at the scene said a shot was fired during the fight. Officers didn’t immediately know exactly where the fight and shooting happened.

A victim was found in a car near the bar. The car had bullet holes near the driver’s side door and in the windshield.

The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Police at the scene weren’t sure if he was shot or was injured during the fight and then shot at.

Someone connected to the incident entered a house on St. Marys Ave. behind the bar during the incident.

A man inside first refused to leave the home, which led the police into a short standoff. He was put in police custody a short time later.

The incident is under investigation.
