National Action Network hopes to stop violence

FIle: Police lights in downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) After multiple teenagers are involved in four shootings, an organization is taking action. Pastor Carlton Lynch and the National Action Network is hosting an event called “Code Red” in hopes to stop violence throughout the city.

Officials said they’ve already begun to put a strategy in place to deter young people from the life of crime and gang affiliation. Kevin Muhammad with the Nation of Islam said violence continues because people have forgotten the proper value of self.

“Unfortunately we’ve lost our humanity,” Muhammad said. “When we see another human being, we should get back to respect for life in general. We’ve lost that and every problem has a solution.”

“Code Red” is at New Beginnings Church Sunday at 7 p.m. It’s free to attend.
