Fort Wayne police investigate the death of a woman whose body was found inside an apartment in the 7900 block of Decatur Road early Monday, April 25, 2016.

The body of Jacqueline Vanduyn, 52, was found around 12:15 a.m. on April 25 in her apartment in the 7900 block of Decatur Road, just off U.S. 27 south of East Tillman Road. At the time, the Allen County Coroner’s Office said it could not determine how she died, and said that would require further testing.

That testing showed Vanduyn died of asphyxia due to strangulation and suffocation, the coroner’s office said Wednesday. Her death was ruled the county’s 16th homicide of 2016.

Fort Wayne police have released no details about the investigation and denied requests by NewsChannel 15 for officials reports on the case.
