Carroll grad Trevor Snyder named Freshman All-American

MOREHEAD, Kent. – Shortstop Reid Leonard and designated hitter Trevor Snyder have been named to the 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team, as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Leonard, a native of Glen Allen, Va., was also a second-team Ohio Valley Conference pick and a member of the OVC All-Freshman team. He moved into the leadoff spot in the batting order midway through the season and ranked ninth in the OVC with 78 hits, while recording 12 doubles and 32 runs batted in. He struck out just 17 times in 222 at-bats and recorded 23 multi-hit games, including two in the OVC Tournament. He had a pair of four-hit games in OVC play (vs. Eastern Kentucky and UT Martin).

Snyder, who hails from Fort Wayne, Ind., was also an All-Freshman Ohio Valley Conference selection. He batted .326 on the year, while recording 11 doubles, eight home runs, and 46 runs batted in. His .508 slugging percentage ranked fourth on the team and he finished with 18 multi-hit games, including a five-hit game vs. Jacksonville State on May 15.
