FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Marathon gas station in East State Village was held up very early Monday.
Police were called to the gas station at the intersection of East State Boulevard and Crescent Avenue just before 1 a.m. on a report of an attempted robbery and shooting. The caller told dispatchers that someone had tried to rob the store and she was “shot by something,” according to a report.
Officers arrived and found a woman inside the store who was bleeding from her chest, shoulder and face from shots from an airsoft gun, the report said. The wounds were only superficial.
The woman told police that she was working at the store when a man with a white mask over his face came in armed with a black gun and yelled, “Give me the money!” The report said the suspect the pointed the gun at her as she approached the store’s cash register.
The report said when the woman struggled to open the register, the suspect became frustrated she was taking too long and fired the gun at her twice. The suspect then ran out of the store without any cash.
The report said the suspect was dressed in a gray hoodie, gray sweatpants, and white tennis shoes, and had his hood pulled up over his head with a white facemask over his face.
A K-9 was called in to track then suspect.
