Homestead’s Grace Walther wins 1600m state championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead senior Grace Walther’s final push down the straightaway led her to a first place finish in the 1600 meter run (4:48.68); she clocked in with the fastest winning time in the past five years.

Walther later took third in the 800 (2:12.89).

This is Walther’s first state championship. The Homestead senior will continue her running career at IU, on the very track where she won her state championship.

Homestead finished in the top ten in the team scoring finishing in 8th place.
